D.J. Wagner recently teamed up with Habitat for Humanity of Atlantic County, Seashore Construction, the Hammonton community, as well as other contractors to renovate a deserving family’s home. Erik Mendez, a teenager with Cerebral Palsy and the inability to speak, lived in a home that was not fit to his needs. Prior to the construction, Erik needed to be carried down the steps from his house to get the bus. He also could not take showers due to inaccessibility and was forced to be sponge bathed. The supply of heat in his room was relied on a space heater.

The initial project design called for an addition to the house with a handicap bathroom that included a wheelchair accessible shower as well as ramp from the house. As the project progressed new issues were discovered. A noticeable issue with the boiler, ventilation and air conditioning; this is where D.J. Wagner eagerly stepped in to help. Specifically, D.J. Wagner with the help of Ferguson Enterprises, Johnstone Supply, and United Supply, donated the necessary supplies and equipment to relocate the condenser, install a new boiler with domestic hot water coil for the home, and baseboard heat into Erik’s bed room and bath room. John Boswell and Joe Alber, led the volunteer project for D.J. Wagner with the assistance of Shawn Gillan, Steve Calabrese, Pete Clausen, Mark Edwards, Alberto Ortiz, Ryan Owens, and Mike Zane.

Since the completed project, Erik and his family have some peace of mind. Erik now has the freedom and access to leave his house without much help, get into the shower with his wheelchair, and has a comfortable place to call home. D.J. Wagner understands the importance of giving back to the community and was humbled by the opportunity to have such a positive impact on the lives of others.

2015 DJ Wagner Golf Outing

Golf outing pics 019

The 9th Annual D.J Wagner Charity Golf Outing once again took over Ron Jaworski’s Valleybrook Country Club on Friday September 18th in beautiful Blackwood, New Jersey. The proceeds of the outing went directly to St. John of God Community Services Early Intervention Program in Westville, about a mile down Delsea Drive from our office.

On this beautiful day about 105 golfers came to play and 150 attendees showed up for the luncheon. To say the least, it was a tremendously successful day. In fact, DJ Wagner, the golfers, sponsors, and donors collectively raised over $34,000 for the Early Intervention Program. This program gives support to infants with special needs from birth to 3 years of age. St. John of God has created a marvelous program that provides aid to over 600 families in Gloucester County alone.

Just like any DJ Wagner event, a genuinely good cause was followed by plenty of fun. Tee-off was at 9:30 AM sharp with a shotgun start followed by a fantastic lunch and Chinese auction.

Thank you again to all of the supporters and especially to St. John of God Community Services for all the families and communities they continue to serve!

2013 DJ Wagner Golf Outing

The 7th Annual D.J. Wagner Charity Golf Outing benefiting St. John of God Community Services Early Intervention Program was a huge success! We did not let a rain delay stop us from making it one of the best outings D.J. Wagner Heating & Air Conditioning, Inc. has had.

We took Over Ron Jaworski’s Valleybrook Country Club for the morning. With 131 golfers and almost 150 attendees at the luncheon, it was a very successful day. The money raised before and during the golf Outing benefits the Early Intervention program. This program is for those individuals from birth to 3 years of age who have disabilities. St. John of God Community Services does an amazing job with this program, which assists over 600 families in Gloucester County alone.

Golfing started around 9:30AM and it was a shot gun start. It was a brisk sunny day for all of our golfers. We had a 50/50 raffle and a basket auction for our guests to win. We were also joined by several SJOGCS employees, including our only ‘all-girl’ foursome of the day! Several SJOGCS Students staked out at Hole 10 to cheer on our golfers! One of the SJOGCS adult students helped with handing out all of the prizes and trophies to our winners.  Thank you to all of our supports and especially to St. John of God Community Services for all they do for our surround communities and the families they serve!

D.J. Wagner Heating & Air Conditioning, Inc.  Horseshoe Tournament – Every year D.J. Wagner Heating & Air Conditioning, Inc. hosts their infamous Horseshoe Tournaments. These tournaments have a deeply rooted history. They started 25 years ago with six people and some hamburgers. In 2013, the tournament spread over three backyards with almost 40 teams and about 200 people who attended the event.

Article_Horseshoe 1

The tournament is not only for those playing but it also brings the D.J. Wagner Heating & Air Conditioning, Inc. employees together for a company picnic and cheer on their co-workers playing in the tournament.  It is a great day to spend with family and friends. The Mystery Machine, an amazing live band rocked the party this year. They had everyone up and dancing all evening long.

This year’s donations went towards a past employee of D.J. Wagner Heating & Air Conditioning, Inc., Jim Berwick. Jim passed away after a long battle with cancer. Jim was not only an employee; he was the champion of the tournament two short years ago.

St. John of God’s Community Services – since 2005 D.J. Wagner Heating &  Air Conditioning, Inc. has helped

Thank you DJW_1_Thumbnailout the nearby school, St. John of God’s with their HVAC systems and donations. St. John of God’s is a school dedicated to helping those with disabilities throughout South Jersey since 1967. Their school offers educational programs from Pre-K through 21 years of age. They also have an adult program for all ages. D.J. Wagner Heating &  Air Conditioning, Inc. has donated money to help with families who need a little extra help. The money donated is to help with at home care. Physical, occupational and speech therapists go out to certain homes to help children outside of the classroom. Our donation for these services ultimately gives those children extra education to maximize their skills to their fullest potential.

The 2nd Annual ‘Car Show for a Cure’ in honor of Derek Schnapp –
The parents of Derek Schnapp, Jim and Eileen held the 2nd Annual ‘Car Show for a Cure’. This fundraiser is in honor of their son who fought a very rare form of Sarcoma.  All donations go towards The Sarcoma Foundation. He was only 17 when he passed away.

Derek had a passion for cars and his father thought the best way to honor his son was to have a car show for all to enjoy.  There were raffles, live music, games, crafts, food and plenty of classic cars.

“I’m Derek. Life is worth living no matter how bad things may seem. There is always love and some purpose for you, if you just love peace will follow. The world is too messed up to be negative, being positive will change your life drastically, you will realize that your life is nowhere near as bad as you thought. Live life, love much, laugh often. Peace –D”

D.J. Wagner Heating & Air Conditioning, Inc. had the opportunity to be a sponsor for this foundation the second year in a row.

Our President, Drew Wagner had this statement about the remarkable experience, “I am so fortunate they asked D.J. Wagner Heating & Air Conditioning, Inc. to part of the sponsorship for the event. Walking through the crowd and seeing all the volunteers and supporters really makes me think about how fragile and precious life is. Jim and Eileen have made a decision to keep Derek’s memory alive and also support the fight to end the terrible disease. One of the greatest opportunities that appear in life and business is being able to support a great cause and friends like this.”
